Remember those bright, hot, late summer afternoons?  This copse along Front Road opposite Invista has always intrigued me; once while driving I saw a fox run out of it, as if from a secret world into ours.

This afternoon at Paterson Park the skies loomed ominously over Simcoe Island as the cold west wind bore in:



But this very morning I had been in the fields beside Invista as the sun rose just high enough to melt the frosty weedtops:



Even in the afternoon, with the dark clouds over Simcoe behind me, the skies over the water treatment construction site were almost calm.  I don't know if they'll replace this elegant power rack, but they could leave this one here just for me!

When the cold wet winds blow, I think of afternoons in autumn forests like this one only a couple weeks ago:



Now those leaves are turning to soil once again, and cold rain is filling the puddles:
