This is the time of year when heavy, languid weather doesn't get to stay around for long before being swept away by a succession of new fronts.  The pale hot skies of late summer are replaced by ever-changing cloudscapes.  Just look up- we're at the bottom of an ocean of air!







I confess, I didn't really like the K & P Trail until I realized that the secret is to look sideways as much as possible.  Then it becomes a rich succession of views:

 On Sheffield Lake, where our cottage is, I found this creature emerging from the swampy shallows.  At once beautiful and strangely arachnoid, especially seen from lake level in a kayak:



Closer to home, at the Gardiner's Centre, is a very nice patch of grass next to the Metro where the employees sit in their cars for smoke breaks.  This is one of a couple of trees that give almost the only shade in the entire parking lot.  Next to the tree is an application notice for a drive-through Tim Hortons, so it won't be there for long.
